BTS: Copa Flora Fabric Collection with Moda Fabrics Spring 2026 Release

Get my first reaction to seeing the full collection of fabrics with my fruity art! This collection from Moda Fabrics features three panel designs and dozens of coordinating repeat prints. They really pack a punch!

My Fabric Design Process with Moda Fabrics

Months go into designing a pattern collection. And I designed and collaborated each step of the way... so why is this part--the delivery of strike-offs--so significant? It's my first time seeing what's been on paper, printed, and digital finally on fabric.

Each of my collections begins with hand-painted watercolor art.

These tiny little pears were painted on a whim and are now a favorite of the 20+ sku fabric collection.

Paintings are collected and curated to be a part of the whole. As the collection shapes up, holes start to surface. "What if we had some more hibiscus?" "What fruits could be represented or suit this specific color feel?" The floor often gets covered with art and more is excitedly created... this time, in the proper color ways.

The art becomes a repeat design in Photoshop.

The creative process moves into Edit Mode where colors are adjusted and the art is made to be flexible. Parts can move around, be adjusted and arranged as needed. Watching the art transform into designs is endlessly satisfying.

I teach exactly how I turn artwork into digital designs. Learn my ways here.

The collaborative process continues with my fabric partners.

Once the designs are created, it's time to make them play well together in terms of scale and creating a breath of options for customers. As the creative team at Moda works to do this, I await the box of real-life fabric samples to see it all come together!
